Daddy’s Girl

July 28th

One of my all time favorite snacks (and sometimes meals) is chips and salsa. I have restaurants that I go to for their chips and salsa alone (shout out Chili’s). Last year my dad had a large garden that produced lots of tomatoes. He started making his own salsa to use them up, and it is the BEST salsa I have ever had.

Once, he gave me a jar to give my brother, and I ate it. I didn’t even feel the least bit bad about it either. The jars of salsa rarely make it 24 hours once it has been opened. Ryan loves it too. I have often stopped him from eating it. But here’s the funniest part. The other day I was working on my computer, and I asked Ryan to bring me some of “My Daddy’s Salsa.”

He started laughing, and he said to me, “Do you realize that you always call the salsa “My Daddy’s Salsa”?”

My reply, “Well, it is.”

His tomato plants are not doing so well this year, so it looks like it might be another summer before he can make some more. I’m going to start rationing the jars I have left. When it’s all gone, I’m going to put this picture on the jars of store-bought salsa in my fridge. Hey, it might work. Never mind, who am I kidding. Pace has nothing on my dad.
