Bringing it back old school

October 28th

So MTV has started the coolest thing. On their website, www.mtv.com, they have uploaded thousands of music videos for you to watch going back as far as 1981. I have really enjoyed reliving the music videos that stick in my head from my childhood. I’ll be sharing some of my favorites.

Here’s the first music video I remember. I had it recorded on a VHS tape, and I would watch it over and over again. Man David Lee Roth was cool! LOL

Only with the one you love

October 24th

This is a conversation Ryan and I had the other night in bed.

Me: “I’m really sorry about the awful gas I’ve had tonight”

Ryan: “Really?”

Me: “Yeah, it’s really bad. Especially at the grocery store.”

Pause

Me: “I wondered why you didn’t say anything, but then I realized that you probably thought it was you.”

Ryan: “I NEVER even considered that it was coming from you! I kept smelling it and thinking, I don’t remember farting.”

Me: “I was right!”

Hysterical laughter

Marriage is great.

Sweetest Boy EVER!

October 23rd

Here is my nephew Jordan. It has been such a blessing
having him live with us for the past month.

I used this photo on the front of his birth announcement.
He looks so peaceful. I call him my Punkin. His smile warms
my heart. He is such a good baby!

Balloon Festival

October 16th

A few weeks ago we went to the balloon festival with Liz, Caitlyn, Faith, and Jenn. We were there all of an hour before the girls were ready to leave. Liz said, “Can we go home now and paint our toes?” We convinced them to stay a little longer, and we all had fun.

Here’s my favorite balloons.

The lines to get your face painted were super long, and prices started at $5 each. We opted for a $1 powdered candy bottle instead. Faith is so funny!

We starting playing this game with Liz almost two years ago. I would tell her to, “Make a _____ face!” She would, and we would snap a picture. I have to say that in two years, her faces have gotten a lot better! Faith and Caitlyn aren’t too bad either!

“Make a silly face!”

“Make an angry face!”

“Make a thinking face!”

“Make a sad face!”

“Make a scared face!”

See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil

And there’s nothing better than washing Monte’s face!

the 12 Cookies of Christmas cometh!!!

October 12th

About this time of year Ryan and I sit down to pick out our menu of cookies for the 12 Cookies of Christmas. What is the 12 Cookies of Christmas you ask? Here’s a photo of the madness!!!

We (and by we I mean I) make cookie platters for our family and friends that contain 12 different cookies. I really enjoy making them, and I start baking as early as October. So here’s what I need to know from those who have received cookies from us: which are your favorites, which did you not like, and what kind would you like to see added. I make no guarantees that I will listen to you, but I’m interested! Ryan and I already have a few new favorites we are going to add. What are your thoughts?

Edit: Here’s the menu from last year. -Ryan

Makes me smile

October 6th

I was scheduled to work at Vega last Friday to help out the teacher I had been subbing for long term. She needed help with field day since she isn’t back up to 100% yet. Unfortunately, Jenn came down with a stomach virus Thursday evening (I had it Wednesday), so I was her sub on Friday. It wore me out!

The best part of the day happened during field day. The music teacher was helping out at the popsicle station. She pulled me aside and told me that I did a wonderful job with the kids and that they were always so well behaved for her. She also told me that she had found out that I was up for the open kindergarten position this past summer.

She looked into my eyes and said, “They made a huge mistake!” WOW! What validation! It made me feel good that someone finally verbally said what many are thinking. The other long term sub position I have interviewed for (I also had a second interview on Friday that went really well) came from a recommendation the assistant principal at Vega gave. Hopefully there will be that perfect position for me next year!
